    You can always use small nut (as in nuts and bolts), just squash them with a pair of pliers. Or as I have done in the past, thin copper plate and wrap tightly around the wire rope.

    Over the past few years with all the walking I do I have had to stop wearing shoes. I have found the more I walk in shoes the more problem I have with my feet. Now the only times I wear shoes is going out somewhere fancy, work or when its too bloody cold.

    You could split it up for bow staves and make some bows. I have a bow I made from a bay, mind you it is as ugly as hell but a 70# and the first bow I every made I just love it.

    I became immune to the sting years ago, I had to thin carrot seedling, and the carrot beds were full of nettles, thinned for 8 hours the first day, been immune ever since.

    Dead wood

    I am not afraid to use to use dead wood, I have to much, it is what I heat the house with. I manage our woodlot, I only harvest what I need for winter, if the wood on the ground is getting thin, I will harvest some of the coppice's for next year or will drop a tree that needs to be dropped.

    It is a crock. If you teach them to wear the packs correctly, there would not be as many problems. Half of the packs today that are aimed at school kids are rubbish, and their design are going to cause problems anyway.
