New Trousers.... how have yours been?..

Been wearing the Vertx trousers alot recently in England and Poland. Much heavier material in 98% cotton 2% lycra. Feel alot more solid than 5.11s, comes in better colours and it's twill. Plus the cut is more casual, but just as functional as any military trouser.

Best 4x4 for rural / remote living - UK

I'm thinking of getting a 2.4D Hilux Pickup next year. Does about 30 to the gallon on long runs and you can fit a dozen mujahideen, janjaweeds or somalian pirates in the back!

Finding all leather, high leg, wide fitting boots

Yeah only the safety boots though. I've seen the fashion boots knocking around too.

Finding all leather, high leg, wide fitting boots

Got some Meindl Dovre Extremes earlier on in February this year...a wide fitting boot apparently. Looking at the soles though you wouldn't think so. They're not a bad fit, the last is a bit snug with a swollen foot, but causes no pain or discomfort. I find the ankles on them to be freakishly...

Do you have to be a full member to sell things?

Hm that's a bit weak, but fair enough I suppose.

    As above ;)

    Remember the days when...

Just goes to show how quick things change! Not old enough for nostaliga perhaps, but old enough to moan about the recession at least.

    Remember the days when...

An Ullfrotte 200g was £32... Boots weren't made to fit pixies... A medium was actually a medium... The word 'tactical' wasn't overused and stuck to everything even vaguely military (thankyou COD4)...

    Royal Mail Rant.

It's reasons like this that I now call Royal Mail - Royal Fail. After the snow cleared, it still took them 8 weeks to deliver the mail. At the moment, they moved our postman (who knew me by name and knew the area very well) and now they seem to be having big problems finding my address and...

    Reccomend me a gore-tex, please!

Really looking at the Swazi Wapiti at the moment. Seems a tad on the expensive side, but I've heard of a means of knocking a few quid off the price to import it. Looks hardcore with a no-nonsense attitude! Failing that, Norrona's hunting range dosn't look bad, but the material dosn't seem to...

    Reccomend me a gore-tex, please!

Stalking/small game/Urbexing/walking. Could be anything really. I don't restrict myself to a handful of activities as I never say no to anything that gets me out in the fresh air! Dogging though, I draw the line at ;)

    Reccomend me a gore-tex, please!

Never really got on the ventile boat, tbh. Has anyone got experience with any of the cheaper stalking brands, etc? Chevalier, Harkila, etc?

    Reccomend me a gore-tex, please!

Hey all, I'm on the lookout for a new gore-tex jacket. I'm decommissioning my bright blue 'crisp packet' Berghaus for something more suiting my needs. My budget is £300 max. My requirements are simple: - First and most importantly I want a silent form of gore-tex. I'm sick to death...

    Promethius Jellyfish

Anyone got one? I'm tempted, but not convinced. Automatic, Tritium Illumination and WR to 30bar/300m...for 290 odd Euro...sounds far good to be true.... Have a look... http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/prometheus-jellyfish-520399.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeeVz6EWO-w

    rucksack

I've been using a Karrimor Trail 45 more recently, which is possibly as old as I am. I also use a '37 pattern webbing side pack when just out wandering - the strap is marked 1941.

    BBC - Alien Species.

Does this include the ghost slug http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_slug :)

    Shemag, do you use it?

I often use the 'operation desert storm' issue one. Its standard pattern in sand colour, but with rough cut edges with no tassels. I just use it like an ordinary scarlf in winter.

What knife and carry for an ambush predator?

If firearms are unobtainable then common precautions are probarbly your best bet. Either that or an axe -- much longer reach. Compound bow perhaps? I'd expect blank firers or steel BBs from a slingshot would do the trick if you had the distance/time to react (although I've heard slingshots are...

    Woolen hats, your choice?

I use a 20 year old, navy blue, pure wool cap from the Isle of Wight that I got as a hand-me-down from pops. I might get myself a Possum & Merino hat though because I like the colour more.
