Snowdon is lovely but I reckon nothing compared to where you are now. I'll be heading up to Wasdale head (just south of where you are) in two weeks to walk the Scafell mountains. So looking forward to it.. Nice pictures BTW. =)

Looks very nice there. Very open though, was it windy at all? I usually go for woodlands where there is limited wind and plenty of trees to hang my hammock from. I often head to the woods for days out, either with dogs or just with my girlfriend, so for me the 'sound of bushcraft' is more associated with night time. I think the best sound is simply the sharp snap of a twig as dusk sets in (means the local deer are close by) or the hoot of an owl above...

looks sturdy.. I like the 'naked' look as the woods used contrast with each other (as opposed to all being the same colour)... Are you going to coat it?

Thanks for the replies.. We left them where they were and took pictures only. The area where we found these was abundantly covered with them. I may return next year for a couple to add to my firelighting kit. :)

Hi all, walking through local woods we came across this log with King Alfred's Cakes growing on it. We weren't sure what the other pinkish ones were but guessed they were possibly immature King Alfred's Cakes as they were same shape, as solid as the King Alfred's, and had black areas on them...

Hi guys and gals, last night was visited by this gorgeous creature. He/she is still with me, hiding in the bathroom fixtures. Size is just shy of 2 inch head to tail. Before any clever clogs say it I know it's a moth :p but which one.. Googled it but came up with several different names...

That is a beast! Hope it works out well..I could live on mackerel ,tastiest fish in the ocean =) let us know how tasty they turn out after being in the belly of that beast.
