This is the finished article. Need to get better at photos. Looks better in real life, kind of like ivory or bone. The carving is highlighted with cinnamon - no idea if I did it right but it looks nice. More on my blog.

Nice piece of work. I like the runes inscribed on it. I cant remember the name of the technique, but it is similar to scrimshaw.

Kolrosing it is. Think I may develop a taste for it. And you're right. a h are SWMBO's initials.

It's called pyrography (burning wood or leather )

Nah - it's not burned. Have a look on my blog and see how I did it. I've tried pyrography and suck at it!

That is great. I love making beads and pendants out of wood that my wife uses for making her bracelets and necklaces. I do a lot of pyrography like on walking sticks that I make.

I played around with a touch of very simple kolorizing on a spoon handle that is a very nice piece you did
