whats FSC.

DFs are mad, not been on a DF camp but from what I hear drink flows with the merry making.

I'm very upset, though my A level results come out on a thursday (they always do so don't worry other young people) I wont be able to come as I have to go to my sisters wedding on the 21st
This is a real shame because though I've done loads of camping, there has been chance for "bushcraft" and I could have learnt a lot from you peeps

Looks like I might be able to make it. We were going to go to the Gathering but other plans in September so hopefully we can come to this meet up instead. Plans so far sound great!!

Have we got any further on directions/ cost yet? Just wondering mainly because I'm a serial planner :)

Bill (and my wife Emma for this)

If anyone wants to know about FSC Forest School Camps then check out the link below! It's a charity organization which specialises in taking inner city kids to remote areas  in Britain for camps of between 2 and 13 nights duration, some are mobile some fixed, some involve canoes, boats or bikes others are on foot.

Blue Sky  ,

thats the place!!!!

dont worry about the sewage works you cant actually see it on the ground, its built into a depression and ringed with dense woodland

The site can be seen on the landranger 170 'Vale of Glamorgan & Rhonnda
area' 1:50000 (the 1:25000 WOULD BE BETTER BUT I DONT HAVE ONE OF THE AREA)
the site car park is roughly in grid 872,773
the site covers the area from the A48 in the north to just the other side of
the B4524 in the south and from the sea in the west to the village of
Merthyr mawr in the east

Adi has a sat photo of the area I'll ask him to put it up

Would it help if I was to catch a train and meet someone at a station like Chester or Manchester etc? Maybe even Hereford?

As someone kindly pointed out, llandudno is not really on anyones 'way'

Being so close I really wish I could help out, but we'll have a car full as it is. Sorry mate... :-(

General, as far as I know the nearest train station is going to be Bridgend.

I don't drive so I too have been looking at how to get there if my lift falls through.

From what I can see Bridgend rail is about 4Km east north east of Merthyr Mawr and the camp site.

If you are coming down from Llandudno it will probably be 2 or 3 train changes depending on the time of day you travel.

I hope this is of use to you,

Leon.

I would leave Llandudno at 10:47 on the Friday and arrive at Bridgend at 15:59

I would travel back on Sunday departing Bridgend at 10:53 or at 19:43 depending on the situation.

I have told the owner at work if I can't have the holiday time I will make the next three months hell for him!

Question then, would anyone be willing to pick me up and drop me off on the relevent days? I can bribe with chocolate and a tutorial in sharpening! :-D

as were all going to be only 4k away it should be fairly simple for one of us to drive over and pick you up!!

I wont be at the site untill at least 1:00 on the friday but if that is ok (and i might be very late) let me know and i'll try and pick you up

Depending on whether I get a lift I may decide to walk the last bit myself. Brigend is only an hour from Reading on Virgin if I remember right, and the walk would do me good.
I walk 1 1/2 miles to the station every morning anyway, so twice that shouldn't be a problem.
Can't wait for it...

Oh and I'm a bit lazy and slow...

Be nice to meet up at Cardiff Boaty!

If anyone who will have a car and is willing... Could you PM your mobile number? Thanks!
