Store them cool and dark Craig and they'll keep well.
We use to collect them as kids and ate them throughout the winter. Some do go bad obviously, but most kept for a few months easy.

So is there much difference in warmth between the blankets?
We've got some of those survival blankets in the car, for emergencies. They dont give you the same psychological boost as a real blanket does in the cold ;). There is just something about wool...
As the title says, I'd like to know more about the difference in Wool blankets.

The tub ones work well.
The butter preservation I mentioned before works too, as you only take out a cube at a time and as long as the rest is left covered with the salt solution it stores.

There is also an old-fashioned way of keeping butter in salted water.
Cut butter into cubes, sterilise containers that have a tight closing lid. Boil water and add 2 heaped tablespoons of salt per cup of water. Let the saltwater cool. Pack cubes of butter loosely into the sterilised...
Thanks Martyn, that sounds very promising. Our current tent does the same when you touch the walls when its been pouring rain. How long does it take to dry our from completely sodden?
