How do i polish my Becker BK2 to get rid of the coating

I used a paint stripper then sanded off the little that was left. I then gave it a plum patina and replaced the bolts with stainless steel ones with locking nuts.

    File Knife

Epoxied on. I tempered the file down by placing it in the oven at 400 for two cycles of 1 hour. It took out the brittlness but has left it hard enough I can't drill through the handle for pins. I have made shavings and notches with it in some dry oak and the edge didn't roll. I...

Firecraft - my first skill and i'm struggling!

If you can find some tall (knee high or better) dried grass then pull off the couple of inches at the top. It is hit by the wind and even after a rain or snow melt tends to stay dryer. Take it and put it between your jacket and base layer to help it dry. I don't know the UK or your flora...

New knife, what do you think? and what blade are you carrying?

When on a a dayhike I normally only take along my Vic Huntsman unless I have a specific purpose I plan on needing another knife for. If going overnight or longer camping I will normally take a couple of fixed blades. My Becker BK2 on my belt and my Mora clipper in my pack along with a...

Thought you might like to see a little trip I took this weekend here in the states. Went out for a day hike in the state park. We had about 3 inches of snow the night before and expected another 2-4. It had snowed all day and was about 18 degrees when I was out. I stayed out for about...

    Water purification

Can you boil it instead of using chemicals? You could use bleach, the bleach taste is very slight using 4-5 drops per quart.

What kind of foods do you take into the wild?

beans, rice, bacon I like to take a can of pork and beans, a couple of hot dogs, some omnion, peppers, BBq sauce and honey all in a little container and make beanie weinies. I turn the pork and bean can into a hobo stove to cook them in my canteen cup.
