Saw this on youtube - I found it very interesting! Seems counter-intuitive at first, but should lead to better boiling times...

I watched this a while a go Andy, I think it's fine for indoor testing but any kind of breeze outdoors and I don't reckon it'll help too much.

I suppose the proof is in the testing though, which I've not done yet

I've several heavy foil ones from Primus/MSR/Optimus and they are OK but prefer

The hinged windshields work well if you cut them in half and make them into a 6-panel screen...

Nice one Ian. I actually melted a hole in an MSR foil shield IIRC leaving it too close to an Omnifuel or Nova (can't remember which). They (fold up shields) certainly help when using a 'remote' fuel source, for newcomers to stoves, be careful how tight you 'wrap' a windshield around a gas stove.

The full size are perfect for a high stove like a Primus no5.
