Angie and I decided to wander off to some local public woods about a mile away from the house we scoped out a couple of weeks ago.we made our way to a spot where we had discoverd an old fire left by someone else.
Angie wanted to practice hanging her hammock and tarp and to be honest did very well considering it had been a while.
While she was doing that i collected dead standing and kindling for a small fire.
The good old vasaline and cotton wool balls combo did the trick and the fire was underway with the first brew on the go.
With brew in hand the sausages were next while my assistant prepped the rolls.
Angie decided it would be good idea to christen her new buffalo top with ketchup and grease from her roll.jeez.
I noticed some birch trees nearby so tried my hand at a sap tap.
After about an hour there was enough for a taste each.not what i was expecting to be honest. Just cold water.
Abit of hammock time before scrambled egg rolls and more coffee.
As there are paths leading in and around the wood you could hear dogs and there owners passing through but we were suprised to get a visit from four 20 somethings out for a stroll and came and said hello and comments of how cool the camp was.it nice to see the younger generation genuinely out and about on such a lovelly day.
I decided to have a swing hence the view
All to soon it was time to pack up and head off home so clear up and collect any rubbish ours and some left by others . obviously leaving it as we'd like to find it next time.
As we had walked there an overnight camp would be fairly easy even with carrying in our water.
Till next time....
