I cut a couple of old file strikers, for the Explorers to play with, this morning. Just as a play I dug out a bit of charcloth and had a quick go. Second hit and I got a spark in the right place. Panicked grab of a handful of Ash planing waste and I had fire all of a sudden! So I decided to stop and cook some lunch.

I got one of these for christmas and still hadn't tried it on a fire.

Yum food looks good, What is your burner made from ? (I'm guessing paint can) and what grill are you holding in with the screws ?.

Hi. In this case it is a coffee tin. Sadly the stuff at work is now supplied in a paper 'tin' so that source is no more. A five litre paint tin would be much the same. The bolts are done up tight into nuts inside as a permanent fixing. A bit of square pattern perforated sheet steel rests on the bolts. The fire goes on top of the steel sheet, allowing air to cirulate through the holes near the bottom and up through. It protects the ground reasonably well.
