Small leather projects for presents?

I'm planning on making some belts for some family this christmas but i know of a couple of people that would probably rather not divulge their waste size.
What other little things could i put together instead.

I've never done any leatherworking before so things as simple as belts would be ideal.

why not be sneaky and work out the size for yourself....... - I managed to work out my wife's ring size so the engagement ring fitted and she had no idea

be devious - I find a 'compare' exercise works well - does this fit kinda thing....... or sneek in their wardrobe

other than that keyrings go down well - esp if you emboss initals or a logo on them
