Hello,

So I have this ferro rod without a handle and I'd like to do something useful with it.

Any ideas?

I mean it's just a cylinder, it has no way of attaching to anything, so am I supposed to glue it into the handle or what  Seems a bit unreliable if it's just glued in.

What other things can I do with it? It's about 2 inches long and maybe 4mm diameter (you can tell I'm a pro by the way I mix my units).

It used to live hidden inside a paracord lanyard. Thanks guys :)

I would drill a suitable 1/4" hole in a bit of wood/plastic or whatever handle you desire, rough up the shank of the rod and glue it in ewith epoxy .... that worked for mine in wood and antler ...

Thanks, I've got loads of ideas now! The concept of a multitool/firesteel combo is intriguing. I know +B makes a 'firesteel' SAK but it's for flint and steel, not a ferro rod (not that that's a bad thing, just different).

A word of caution - I tried just drilling a hole in both wood and antler (+epoxy) and both failed after about 5 weeks - so some kind of roughing up seems to be necessary

I am thinking of doing this and making a wood handle.
Q. To preserve the wood ive seen people put linseed oil on but can you put on regular cooking oil or bees wax?
