New to the Hammock and tarp

Hi Guys,
Ive just bought a cheap hammock and tarp. I have never tried a hammock before but I am (at 62) just getting too old to be getting in and out of tents and Lavvu. I need to buy some cordage for a ridge line and guylines. Could anyone recommend a line and thickness please.

Hi Don,
You want a nice static cord that doesn't stretch. I use this on my hammock tarp, at 3mm it holds well in line-locs and figure 9's.

It is a bit pricey but it's good stuff.

Cheapo paracord for guylines, 12m Dyneema ridgeline and 2 Nite ize Figure 9 thingies. Now I've had them a while, they really can put some tension on the ridgeline. Flappy tarps can ruin a sleep.

I'd do a night out though, I've pitched my tarp on the diagonal (best way IMO) just using the tie outs and a couple of bits of cord, pegs made of Hazel. That's the easiest way. Take a decent mat, essential.
