For a surprise on my birthday SWMBO bought me a whole frozen octopus about 300mm head to toe, er tentacle. whatever.

No Worries

Anybody got any ideas what I can do with it - NO - how to cook it!!

Doesnt have to be bushcrafty - does have to be tasty.

Do you have to gut them like fish ?? Is it going to kill me.

Cmon folks I need help before I need HELP!!

Cheers
Nick

best thing to do is discard the head, and cut the legs into rings - fry them with whatever you like, such as garlic paste or whatever.

There's a cookery book that is excellent - called "how to cook book" which is a little like a modern day mrs beeton - its got excellent fish mongery section, with lots of different fish types

I believe either very very slowly or stir fried very quickly......octopus shouldn't be rubbery if it has been cooked correctly. Cant get to a recipe book at the mo but rings lightly floured and then flash fried with some sort of chili sour dipping sauce should be nice??
