The missus took me for a surprise day to see the astronomy exhibit and open day. We also took a walk around the castle and grounds as well and found a nice angle by the moat.

Love castles, and that site has some interesting history to it.

Lovely place but the sides of that moat are dangerous. At a reenactment a bit back we were trying to recover blunt arrows from the slopes above the moat, no grip from our leather soled shoes so human chains to get back a few arrows so battle could recommence.

Try and get to the next one in 2017, fabulous weekend.

You've got to love a good moat... what always puzzles me though, they had no real method of damp-proofing or 'tanking' so how did they stop their cellars from flooding?
