Can anyone recommend a weekend course in the southeast offering basic stuff like shelter building, fire by friction and foraging etc I would prefer a recognised or professional outfit so price is not really a consideration

thanks

Hi Dano
I have been on a couple of courses with Woodcraft School and can highly recommend them they are based near Midhurst in an ancient woodland setting, their essence of bushcraft course sounds like just the sort of thing you are looking for

failing a course come along to the summer bushmoot see BCUK homepage this wiil tick most of your boxes and you will put some faces to the names on the forum, there will be all sorts of workshops running

Hi Dano,

There is a pretty full list of schools to be found here:

http://www.bushcraftuk.com/links/bushcraft-schools/

I did a weekend introduction to bushcraft course last year with Woodlore (Ray Mears Company) http://www.raymears.com/ and can recommend it. It covers the topics you raised and tends to take place around the East Grinstead area. You need to book well in advance or keep an eye out for spare places.

I havent experience of others but if you find one you are interested in there is probably a member review under the search function or ask.
