Anyone got a project they are planning to take with them to the Moot?

I'll probably be doing some leatherwork as usual, I need a new pair of Viking shoes and a bag for my Roman folding skillet, so that will probably keep me fairly busy.

I don't often get this much time at a static camp so it's a chance to look at some longer projects too.

Just wondered if anyone else had any plans.

My plans include watching the experts at work (I spent most of last years Moot annoying Dave Budd...but he got an interview in one of the mags I write for out of it when I went down to see him later in the year :) ) and seeing what I can learn on the various workshops available.
It is not often I get to pick so many expert brains!
I also hope to socialise with friends old and new, sell some of my makings and surplus bits, get a tan and live the life for a few days!

My plans include ........, get a tan!

John - are we destined for the same place?

My plans could include doing a knot workshop and learning how to throw my cast net which I hope to finish sometime soon (I am aware of the legal situation, I just want to learn how to perform the action).

Other stuff is bound to come up so I'll remain flexible for now!

I'm up for running a carving workshop, for simple things like three piece pot hangers etc.

What I'd like to to have someone teach me how to carve Woodspirirts

Sadly im going to be in the North Sea so what i was planning for what would have been my first has had to be curtailed till the wilderness gathering and next years moot. Was going to bring along my compass and map collection the pilots astro compass and the OSS sun compass(both WW2) and various images maps and fabric maps always attract some intrest.

Hope you're not in there for too long. I've heard it gets a bit cold.

Meet some of the folk I have been talking to on BcUK and say hello properly!
I have a look at some blanket cloaks, maybe bring a blanket and try to make on!

OK, Just to confirm I should be running a simple Kolrosing workshop at my bivi at some point over the week, I'll work out timing when I can see what else is going on.

I'm buying in some decent craft knives for the job and we'll probably do something simple like a spatula, so I should be able to work with ten or so people.

Mesquite has already bags'd a place and we'll sort other spots out at the moot.

Do you think there'd be any interest in folks learning how to carve netting needles?

I enjoy carving them and would be happy to show folks how to do them to anyone interested.

I'm sure there would be!
I've been making a cast net so perhaps there could be the whole process, from carving the needle to making the net!
Mention it at one of the morning meetings and we'll see how to fit it in!

Cheers

I'll add to that and say great idea, i think there's going to be a few that would like to do that. Are you any good at net making with them? Although Ed might do that for us :D
