Birch bark water boiling containers, plausible in Britain?

Is it possible to make birch bark water boiling containers in Britain? and is there any history of there use?

Yup, dont know about history, if you want the nice thick bark hit the top tree line of high plantations, found the best Birch bark in those area where its coldr for longer, less ruptures too, made buckets but never tried boiling water in them,

Cool, is the bark harvested fro dead or live wood? Will have to find some smooth birches.
