I guess clippers are probably a bit better, as you can replace the flint and re-fuel them. Never felt the need to delve into the more expensive options though.

My ‘emergency’ lighter is a clipper. Useful as well as you can remove the flint and use it just for the spark.

Generally I have a zippo with a butane insert for the day to day.

In the past I have used the ubiquitous BIC but does something (much) better exist?

I have this one myself.

Have BICs.

Also couple of Zengaz ZL-1 after seen them recommended by some on here.

ZL-4 look good, but couldn't find a seller, when looked around a while back.
