Hi guys,

do any of you chaps use awls at all? I've got a load of spring steel in just the right size for a number of awls and other small pointy things.

I wondered if there was a market for them.

Cheers

Dave Budd made me a great one at last years WG, very handy bity of kit.
I take it with me on longer trips, fab for emergency repairs to leather, packs and other kit.

Good luck sir!

I'm thinking about £3 for one of the above awls in the future. Does that sound about right guys?

MoT is having this one as a test.

Cheers

Is that square section or round ?
Round awls are great for poking holes in soft stuff but a square one can be used for drilling holes in harder things too

A square awl with a longish taper on it is called a Birdcage awl, they used to be used to make cages for song birds out of really thin lathes
