    (Re)Dyeing after oiling

i've given two belts, two or so coats of fiebings pro oil dye and then, thinking it was fine, i've given them 3 coats of neat's foot oil. however on closed inspection, in better light, i can see they're a bit pale in some areas. can i successfully add further coats of dye, or is it too late?

    Leather stitching

I'm looking to make a leather sleeve for a new ebook reader i'll soon be getting. My plan is to have the leather wrap round both edges and be sown on the back with one side overlapping the other. I intend to make it resilient against the device slipping out so the seam will be under a little...

    First Leatherwork...

I got an axe off of ebay that came without a sheath, with the prospect of making things for christmas presents i thought it was about time i got into leatherwork. Here is my first piece: (Pics are from a camera phone unfortunately) i know the stitching isn't great, i broke the...

    Tidying flesh side of leather?

I'm planning to make some women's vanity mirrors in leather in the shape of a booklet. Rather that double the leather up on the non-mirror side i was just going to leave it single thickness but this will mean the flesh side is exposed. Should i use gum trag to finish it off like the edges?

    Small leather projects for presents?

I'm planning on making some belts for some family this christmas but i know of a couple of people that would probably rather not divulge their waste size. What other little things could i put together instead. I've never done any leatherworking before so things as simple as belts would be...

New stove, mild or stainless steel

I've got a couple of hobo stoves but recently needed to cook two pans simultaneously and found it a bit awkward trying to tend the two pans while also contantly feeding wood into 2 stoves. So i'm looking to create something yukon-esqe but wide enough to allow two pans side by side. I'm on...

    First Hammock experience

I enjoyed my first hammocking experience on saturday night. I successfully pitched my dd tarp using the knots remembered from bushblade's guide (only trialed once in the garden!) It's a DD camping hammock, i slid my alpkit airic mat in between the layers along with my ex-army arctic bag...

    DD Camping Hammock

I received my first hammock this week, a DD camping hammock. Both ends have a length of webbing through the channel, obviously giving me two loose ends at each end. How do i use this? Do i pull it almost all the way through and tie the short end to the long (i.e. make a loop out of the short...

    Sharpening

How long would you say it took to get the hang of sharpening by hand? I've just started out and it is mighty frustrating I've got a set of waterstones, 220/1000 & 4000/8000 The camp/bushcraft knife i'm trying has a secondary bevel (which i have manager to blunt), i'm also trying with my...

    First Sleeping bag

I'm new to this, just had a reintroduction to camping recently and loved it (it was wild camping as i'm lucky enough to have parents with a little land) I borrowed gear at the time but i'm starting to put together a kit, i've acquired some utensil drainers for hobo stove experiments and a...
