    rabbit feet

If they are cut of at the equivalent of ankle or wrist there is so little in the way of tissue other than tendon in there that if they are dries thoroughly they should keep indefinately. Like raw hide though if allowed to get and remain wet they will rot.

The berberis has uses as well; http://www.pfaf.org/database/plants.php?Berberis+thunbergii The above link to "plants for a future" shoves it is edible and has medicinal uses. Have found on other sites that it is rich in Vit C, so you could make berberis syrup instead of rose hip to ward off...

    What spices & condements?

You can get the Knorr aromat at tescos, 90g in a stong metal container. Excellent with meat, fish or veg, either during cooking or afterwards as a seasoning. Along with that I usually carry stock cubes, chilli powder and good old fashioned English Mustard powder (though colmans now do a...

    i need flint lol

PM me your address and I'll send you some. Do you want it for knapping or fire making? I have sent some recently to 'John Fenna' and 'Backyard bushcraft' so ask them about the utility of it if you wish. As long as you dont want 10's of kilos it's not a problem.

    Seasonal cooking herbs.

I know that in my garden the sage, rosmary and thyme are still green and healthy even after a few heavy frosts. Pine and spruce needles make a refreshing tea, full of vitamin C.

Ray Mears' Wild Food (Documentary) - Thursday 4th January 2007

Thanks for the heads up. I have always had an interest in foraging. It will be good to see how they present this, the old faithful book 'food for free' is great but sometimes the television can give you better imagery of the surroundings of plants.

Are you going to process the pelt? It would seem a shame to waste such fine fur.

    Belt

You could try two rings or D rings instead of a traditional buckle. That way you dont have to worry about holes for the tine of the buckle. Just thread the loose end of the belt through bth rings then back over one of the rings and under the other. The tension naturally holds it in place. If...
