Enjoyed a great day out up the woods with Hugo again today, we went back up to the spoon tree as we call it, few pics
Nice patch of Honesty, probably escaped from the adjacent allotments
The woods
Gorgeous Horse Chestnut flower
Our spot
Bit of a look round while we are waiting for the kettle to boil
Mr Badger and his mate
Watch out, Watch out, there is a Hugo about (searching for Pyrite)
Then i cooked us up a bit of treat for an early lunch, lightly fried bannock type thing, first one has some home made Damson Jam on it
second one has a some home made Blackberry jam on it
We had two each, but i was left with a bit of surplus dough, so i cooked it up, smothered it in the remaining Blackberry jam and cut it half
Then it was on to the serious issue of carving, Hugo wanted to carve a Medieval style spoon, so that's what we did, Hugo's on the bottom, mine on the top and one of Hugo's superb little whittlers for scale
Hugo's on the left, mine on the right
Then we figured we would pack away and go for a bimble through the woods
Where we found a rudimentary shelter that someone had started
and Hugo broke his Pyrite duck, yes folks, Hugo is no longer a pyrite virgin, his words, not mine
Bit further up the woods and time to climb up the slope
but the view is worth it
Past a massive fire scar left by the local kids
then down slope a bit and into the area that the mountain bikers use, anyone fancy coming off this jump?
then we headed down past the old rifle range, not used for many years now.
and through the small copse with the pond
before heading back to the cars.
Quality day out as normal, cheers mate.
