White Burdock plant ID please....

We have these plants all over the place and I think they are burdocks, but I am not 100% sure. The leaves are toothed rather than leaf shaped and the down is white rather than purple. I can see no other plant in my book that comes anywhere near it in habit though, the leaves atop the stalk remain wrapped around the thistles for a long time until they burst open....I think you can click on the photos to enlarge.....

Looks more like a white thistle, but I couldn't tell you what variety.

Don't think it is burdock, but I don't know what it is either. May be a non-native.

Possible. Best match I can find. Wish my book showed the lower leaves though, especially as the thing is rare in the UK. Still, it looks like it...

It is also possible that it is a white form of a commoner species (it happens) but C. oleraceum still looks best bet to me.
