If such a thing exists? Iv been searching most of the afternoon for some new kit/upgrades.

Usually camp in the same location by a fresh water source, so looking for some sort of durable roll up bag i can use to transport water to camp from the stream ready for boiling, instead of taking 5l water bottles. Something like a camelback without the mouthpiece, although a tap would be great and anything from 5l onwards...

Cheers

Something like this, perhaps? Its a commercially available 10ltr roll-up in a canvas cover...

Not very robust and I take care not to puncture them, I get at least 10 outings (most trips are 3 days) from one:
http://www.poundland.co.uk/summer/camping-and-festivals/water-carrier-10-litre

I am now trying a Home Bargains (or Bargain Buys - can't remember which) collapsible concertina type 5 litre as I find that 5 litres per day is more than enough for cooking\washing etc. If I remember correctly they are around £1.50 and appear to be reasonably robust, but I have only used it once so far, so cheap that I buy 2 at a time, packs up small and weighs very little, this type:

Edit: Just found this, free postage: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-10L-L...RRIER-CONTAINER-STORAGE-AND-TAP-/271942255568

I might try Bilmo's suggestion, but only if the price is right relative to the number of thrift shop containers I can have for the same money :), the extra cost for the durability factor would be well worth quite a bit extra though.

I guess Bilmo's type is much more durable (do you have a link to them Bilmo ?).

I'm also toying with using the innards of a wine box, given that I don't drink wine I am finding them impossible to come by.

I'm using an Ortlieb 5l bag and am very happy with it. Folds up easily into a 10cm billy can, leaving most of the space at the bottom free for other components.

I've got a few different big water bags. The Ortileb® ones good but for sheer volume and robustness the MSR Dromederry® ones a peach. Has kicked around canoes, 4X4's & camps for years and still looks like new. Has been used for pottable water, a pillow & a hot water bottle and I love it. Also have fittings to fill it directly from my water filter and the straps all 'round it means it can be strapped to bags & hung up with ease.

Sent via smoke-signal from a woodland in Scotland.
