I was in your shoes a little while ago and bought the Frost River Timber Cruiser jr. pack. It's a beautiful pack, I got it for £200 delivered from a company in France (i'll try to find the company if you want) It is a biiiiggggggg pack! I was looking at the Duluth wanderer before and in some respects wish i'd got that, don't get me wrong I love the Frost Rver one but it's a beast (weight wise as well!)
I've got the Norweigen framed pack (cost about £20) and it's brilliant, I probably use it more.
Take a look at the Tamarack site they had a 20% off deal on Duluth a little while ago.
that said I love canvas and leather packs :)

The Duluth and Frost River are about the same weight. They are local companies to me. Frost River is better to me, nice guys and they are not so gentrified as Duluth.
