Sunny day in March

[silentpaddler]

Went on a hike with my brother in law and 2 nephews to make
the most of the best day of the year so far. We took an old
portage route that goes to a small lake, then on to a large one.
Didn't know what ice conditions to expect because the weather
has been all over the place this year. Two days of rain before this
eliminated any need for snowshoes. Turned out to be about 20
inches of hard ice still on the lake.

The height of water in this sinkhole turned out to be the height of
a rubber boot minus one millimeter

We were scaring up deer on the way in and finding their prints
on top of ours on the way out

Agrand day was had by all; next trip to this lake will be with canoes on our heads and the boys carrying fishing gear.
