This one's gonna seem a bit odd but bare with me, I'll go right into detail because it's the only way I can expect an accurate answer:
I'm a little concerned about my dad, he's had a "chesty" cough since the start of december, he's not coughing anything up it's dry - it's just the persistance that's bothering me. He's been to the doc's but from what I can make out he played it down (as usual) and therefore it was put down to a cold. (he's 62 and otherwise doing well for his age).
The cough first came about when he was cutting bricks with a diamond disc, or at least that's when it seemed to start, he'd also been spending a lot of time out in minus 1,2,3and4 celcius (including after he first got ill) tough as old boots these old guys but not much sense! I think he's also been needing to "point percy" more often though that may be to do with drinking more because of the cough.
Anyway, he eventually got some antibiotics from the doc and had some tests done (I'm afraid I don't know the outcome) but that was the end of it and he's still coughing and generaly looking ill.
I've started to wonder though whether it may be to do with our three ferrets; along the lines of farmer's lung, bird fancier's lung or even pneumonia caused by cleaning them out.
We've got two large hobs and a jill who live in a "hutch" that's as tall as me, has four floors and is about 2.5mtrs wide - and about 5 toilets the messy critters!! So, you can imagine, there's a fair ammount of sawdust etc involved and a large ammount of "muck" which I've read is pretty nasty stuff (corrosive). Anyone ever heard of ferret lovers getting chest problems? Or better still, knowlegable enough to recognise these symptoms?
