There must be a thread on here somewhere about that, which I've not
found yet - I know I've seen a bushcraft music one but it was about
music that people like and I've also seen one about music that people
have created, or making their own instruments.

We definitely need a thread of suitable groanworthy bands or songs though :)

Good start.

"You take the high road and i'll take the low road" (gathering materials to eat, and tinder on the way) :D

God it must be a pain in the rear end to have to do all this publicity :(

Paul O'Grady, radio 1 all the other shows he has been on, i havn't seen many of them but my boss has said on some he looks like he just does not want to be there.
For a man who enjoys getting away from it all it must be hell on earth for him

Please don’t think I’m being argumentative or trying to be contentious, because that’s not my way – although I would like to comment from my perspective: -

At the end of the day he is a businessman controlling and contributing to “business income”. Like a lot of business figureheads he is therefore able to create an income to service business debts, overheads etc. and due to profile is probably able to secure future funding. If he has to get out of his comfortzone once in a while to promote various ventures or interests then, IMHO, it’s tough luck – it goes with the territory and is therefore obviously self-beneficial from his perspective. I’m all for seeing “top brass” getting out and doing it in the commercial world.

As I said this is not meant to argue – it’s just my take on the situation.

Phil.

Groan.

You have way too much time on your hands...

They could play 'Mack the Knife', 'Wanderer', anything by STYX, 'He ain't heavy...' ;) , etc, ad infinitum

I think it's good to see he's being a bit less po-faced about his celebrity
status. Remember reading an interview where he seemed horrified
by the suggestion - I could just imagine him pulling exactly the sort of
face I'd pull if someone offered me a witchetty grub, or seafood for
that matter :lmao:

There was an entertaining interview in the Times that someone added
to my 'metathread'... hang on a minute... it was Beer Monster:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2100-2532027.html

Loved last night's programme - I thought it was just great. My dad
reported that he was hugely impressed with the 'making fire out of
nothing' and it was only last week he said 'but he's always setting
fire to things' ;)

I wish my TV / Freeview subtitles worked because I missed a bit of
what Gordon had to say, and also I find subtitles tend to augment
what I'm learning from the spoken words, even when easily heard.

It was a great episode. I like the bushcraft tings he does in england or other comparable climates far better then thailand or other jungles. Not that it's not interesting, but it is more my kind of climate.

Erm...I think you mean John Craven. ;) John Noakes was in 'Blue Peter' and 'Go With Noakes'.

Anyone catch it? It was quite good. He confessed to having 'Take That' on his iPod    !!!

Jo Wiley asked him about the 'next big adventure', to which he replied 'I can't talk about that' - tantalizing!!!

At least Radio 1 is easier to repeat listen to than Paul O'Grady. This is Jo Wiley's show, dunno what time it is on though.

[edit] There's Amy Winehouse doing a zuton cover as well! Good old BBC.
[edit2] Seems he's on after twelve. The show started at ten so I guess that means you can skip the first two hours.
[edit3] Its on about 10 or quarter past. I had to listen through sugarbabes! Thats dedication...

Yes, it was on from 12, only lasted just over half-an-hour. There wasn't anything ground-breaking, just Jo sucking up to him (!) but he came across as a sound, decent bloke.

As mentioned, you'll be able to listen again.

(I don't believe he used the word 'knife' once, just referred to 'something sharp')
