Wasn't aware of this. Will have a look. Surely it has some benefits?, even just to stop misuse of air weapons?

Can someone clarify, if a license is in place then will plinking still be banned?

29. Ministers therefore believe that the unrestricted practice of "plinking" should come to an end. Shooting should only take place on land that is suitable, provides a safe shooting environment and does not pose a risk to the public, and ideally at licensed target shooting clubs, where new shooters can learn the sport in a disciplined and supportive environment

In other words, suck the fun out of it.

.........and neighbours don't appreciate teenage boys with airguns firing where they like.

There are always two sides to an argument if not more.

The right of responsible access means that 'plinking' could technically happen anywhere outside curtiledge, and that worries a lot of the countrydwellers, as much as the neighbourhood teenagers with airguns worry the townsfolks.

No easy answers.....thus the consultation.

Maybe instead of focusing on the NO!, on either side of the debate, people might contribute more effectively on the consultation ?

Perhaps input from some of the Northern Irish might be helpful ? Airguns have been licenced there for some time and it seems to cause no problems.

Since this is a devolved issue, the UK bit isn't going to hold much relevance. Like Northern Ireland there are differences in the application of the relevant laws in Scotland.

cheers,
Toddy
