With all the knowledge available on this site, why are we not making our own dvd's.

Hypothetical crew:

Producer - Tony
Presenter - Big Red (he knows latin he does)
Director - Jedidiah (knows what he wants)
Photographic director - Wayland (he has the eye for it)
Cameraman - Hard choice(anyone with a decent camera)
Lighting - Easy choice(almost any of the pyro's on here)
Scenery - Andyraf (it's in a wood, I'll do it)
Researcher - Toddy
Land Transport - Spamel (a tank can get you anywhere)
Costume - Eric Methven (an eye for period)
Water Transport - SOTP(must be able to swim) John Fenna volunteered for this job.
Victualling - Need new company forming, like Wild Foods are Us(some site members maybe)
Guest presenters - from the ranks of BcUK
Other positions may be filled as required.
What do you think worth a try, if nothing else it would be fun.

Andy.
This is intended as humour, if anyone feels aggeived or insulted then I apologize unreservedly.:slap:

Oooh! Ooooh!
Can I play?
I have done TV work (television - for all those who have seen my panto costume photo!) and do lots of acting...and I have lots of canoes, home made and shiney bought kit, like being filmed and the camera loves me!

Please! - I made a mean cup of bramble leaf tea and mug of dandelion coffee, I could be tea boy!:yuck:

In film credits what exactly do they mean by "Best Boy"?;)
Lets do the show right here!:umbrella:
:lurk:
Seriously - brill idea!

I've seen (and so have a lot of others) short films on youtube by groups and some members here. I think it would be the logical next step for some of the tutorials on here and would add a good dimension to them//

I filmed Scotty making up a covered tripod affair for smoking fish last year and discovered that it's absolutely cringworthy watching and listening to yourself.

Thankfully the tape was trashed in a freak fishing mishap shortly afterwards. The only bit to survive was the final couple of minutes. It was running at the time of the capsize and made for one of the funniest snippets of footage I've ever seen.
I'd post it up but the language used was decidedly not family friendly. :D

Was a corporate film producer/director for 10 years and an imaging specialist for the MoD for 10 before that, if I can offer any advice.

Don't forget the "largest deepest black hole money pit" of any such venture ---- the LAWYERS!

Between all the copywrites, release forms, contracts, insurance forms, credits, land-use and rental forms, release forms for trademarked items used (even if it's just a Pepsi can accidentally included in the background), "residules" from any possible future broadcast, distribution, labor union "concessions", PETA and Humane Society bribes (OK, really just "accepted" extorsion for their "stamp of approval that no animals were harmed and a promise not to protest or sue the project), etc. etc. etc. ad naseum, they would end up holding the project back for years, and be the only ones making any money!

And then there would be all the ... EGOs ... to deal with!

Would the "fame" be worth it?

Mikey - that grumpy ol' German blacksmith out in the Hinterlands

Hi AJB, that's cornered me hasn't it.
See now I'm all frightened and cringing, what started as a bit of humour has come back and slapped me in the physog. Although on reflection it has the germ of a good idea, but it would take someone with more gnaus than me to carry it forward, I'm usually a follower not a leader, so if anyone else has plan to carry this forward speak up, now!, please!

Hey Andy, I’m sorry that wasn’t my intention; I just thought I’d offer any help if it was wanted. It's a good idea.

Perhaps we could make a plan that could be executed at the next Moot, when there are more of us together and in the right mood for some constructive fun. Coz if it aint fun it aint worth doin.
What do you all think a core dvd for beginners.

There`s quite a few chaps on here who`ve already had a bash at making films so I can`t see there being many legal issues to sort out. Maybe Pablo and Ashley could shed some light on the broadcasting side of it anyway. If we just start them up as hosted clips on here then surely Tony and the team would have rights to bang them onto discs for us.

Bring it on I say

If its any help, it was my job in the army to set up all sorts of temporary power and lighting in all different environments. Getting the equipment would be the difficult part though!
Oh and I'm also a handsome devil that the camera loves!!;) :D

As long as the power supply isn't a Jalo.
Will you be available for consultation as to what kit we'd need, hopefully most will be in daylight, so mainly shadow removal.

Great stuff its sorted then I have some flashbangs I nicked from the TA's and I can get gunpowder off of me dad. Jason has some fake blood and a zombie arm so we could do the stunts and the special fx. I'll phone my mate Max Clifford and get a press release put out
