Cheers John,
I tend to save the real ales and sloe gin for trying to dig VW vans out of farmers fields, how did that song go? ;)
If the third coat dries by this eve i should be able to stitch the handle on and get some proper pics.
Leon.

It's just a polly varnish thinned out. I have tried various oils and waxes but a polly varnish once applied is the lazy man's option. Plus I tend to do all of my shooting in the woods where the bow can be out in the weather for a few days at a time.

Did you get your yew from a living tree or did you get it from another source?

It was living before it saw a chainsaw ;)
I know there are a lot of emotions connected to trees here, i too am a bit of a closet tree hugger but.. i am also under no illusions that wood comes from trees and they dont all fall over dead and give up their store. If cutting is done properly and with management and conservation considered there is little or no impact and quite often an increase in biodiversity.

Its pretty much all heart with a little sap wood here and there. Its not the most defined colour i have seen from yew but the finish should bring it out a little more.
