My ipod shuffle 2nd gen... and bushcraft...

I can charge it through a mains charger. But whenever I plug it into the pc, it is not detected. It used to work okay, and now it just does not appear. Am I doing something wrong? Got a new cable, and still having the same problem. I play the outdoor station's podcast on it... that's why it's bushcrafty...

I am running 7 on a virtual machine, and snow leopard on the actual computer. But like I say it used to work fine. It charges on the pc, just does not appear in itunes

Have you done a reset on the ipod ?

Does it show as connected in the bottom right hand corner by the clock ?

I've heard sometimes that itunes still thinks it's connected when it's not, it will still show as connected in windows device manager though when this happens.

Maybe new USB drivers will do it ?

Have you done any Win7 updates lately ?

Done that, part from teh windows 7 update. Does not a[ppear in device manager, but still charges.

I'm presuming it's Win7 that's not detecting it? Does Snow Leopard detect it? How are you running the VM, through VM Ware Player?

Is the USB port being redirected into Win 7 VM?
I have ahd that a lot where it doesnt and things just are not seen.
Out of curiosity why are you doing that way rather then itunes for the mac?

Best try it on an other machine, will rule out a whole lot in one go.

i think some one else and then i think it came to the fault or not working things.

Miine was doing exactly the same thing. I tried different cables and all sorts.

This link should guide you through what is required to fix it. It worked on mine which was exhibiting the exact same problem you mention.
