My handmade axe and knife - pics

A few weeks ago I attended a blacksmith class "Make your own axe".

I´m only a beginner in the art of blacksmithing and I must say it is a humbling experience. When you think you´re starting to get the hang of it, everything goes straight down the tubes. Luckily we had a real blacksmith guru as a teacher and he mananged to correct most of my mistakes...


The knife blade, made from scratch. The steel is from red soil and bog iron. I have showed this picture previously in the Bog iron thread.

Roughly about 12-15 hours, including tuition. I believe our teacher would have done in about one hour and with a lot better result.
