Herro folks,

Thought I'd show you the progress of my first knife handle project.

I'm using a Russell: green river works blade blank supplied by scruff.

With mysterious wood scales, supplied by scruff.

Blue liners, 3.97mm brass rod and Mammoths special glue supplied by Mammoth.

As you can see in the pictures I've shaped the scales to the blade.

Next step is to profile the handle to fit the misses hands and then stain and polish.

As always comments, criticisms and suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Snarf

It's split about 3mm down but not fully split. Shouldn't be a prob ( he hopes :yikes: )

Yeh blue liners for the misses ;)

ok,..the split will get worse mate i,m afraid,...

did you try to peen over the pins?...looks like this has started the split,..

cos they would have probably held with the apoxy from the scales,...

if its just a superficial surface crack and you dont wanna start again then,....

get some superglue, collect some dust from your sanding the scales,.fill the crack with dust and drop the s/glue onto the dust,.

sand it back when its hard....

failing that let me have your addy and i'll plank some birch up for you and send it out,...

cheers

No I haven't peened the pins over mate, just sawed the pins so they were flush against the wood.

I'll glue it up, that will sort it out.

Thanks for the advice

Ok here's an update on the progress.

The split is nothing to worry about, I gave it a quick sand and it was superficial. Here's some pics of the finished profiling.
