My first bowl, split to bits

I picked up a nice piece of London Plane from my local country park (yes, I had permission) and had shaped the outside into a large (and heavy) bowl during the course of a couple of afternoons.
I just about had it right, and had begun carving out the inside of the bowl, but had to dash out (family emergency, nothing serious) so I left the bowl on the bookcase in the conservatory.
And forgot.
Surprise, surprise, we get our first sunny days in the south of Glasgow since last autumn... and my bowl is split to buggery.
Several hours work and several cut fingers wasted - but a lesson learned.
Ho hum.

Probably best left in a plastic bag to control the rate of drying. But we all get caught out. Regards,

I would have left it outside in a shady place and only taken it indoors once already quite well seasoned..
