Evening all,

a couple of weeks ago i invested in some Muck Boots Tay after lots of recommendations on here. I have to say they do everything i need, they are warm and comfy so i'm happy.

except for one thing................

and this is weird.............my right trouser leg keeps twisting ! no matter how i put the boots on, trouser leg tucked in my socks, just wrapped round my lower calf ( all standard stuff ) after 100 yards of walking my right trouser leg is wrapped tightly around my leg, the trouser leg rotates and if you look at the seam, it spirals down my leg,.....it's really uncomfortable and annoying as i have to keep stopping and "un-wrapping " my leg.

it doesn't happen on the left leg !

does anyone else have this ?

how do you get round it ?

i need help here lads as for the price of them, i "HAVE" to wear them but it's seriously annoying.

I have always had this problem, i have 20 quid dunlop wellies, 300 quid le chamaeu leather lined wellies, and a pair of muckboot tay sports.
I had my ice climbing boots fitted and shaped by a professional boot mountaineering company, and he said i twist on the ball of my left leg when walking.
I asked him if it would make my trousers twist in wellies, and he answered before i even finished the question, Yes!
If i stroll, no problem. When i get a march on, twist city my friend!
My muck boots are the worse, because they are neoporene and have more grip on my trousers!
True or not who knows! He could have been telling me crap, but he had no need to, he already had my 350 quid!
Hope this helps
I will be following this post to see who has any other theories!
I just tuck my trousers in my socks now! It seams to help me!

thank goodness it's just not me !! thought i was going mad !

maybe if i got some long thin socks ( football socks maybe ) to tuck my trousers in that would help.

does anyone else have this ? Yes

how do you get round it ? Wear shorts or plus 4s

In a similar vein the zips on my fleece jackets migrate to my left after a while! My grandfather had the same issue.

A few years ago I had a major motorcycle accident and broke every bone down the right hand side of my body.
My Femur broke in 2 places and as they set the bones slightly off-centre, my right foot points slightly to the right when I'm walking (causing knee problems).
My specialist informed me that most people have a "leading" leg which does this.

If you measure a straight line (on a beach for example), stand at the start and then blindfold yourself, try walking a straight course along the line. You may find that you have inadvertently walked a slight curve to the right or left. This is because of your leading leg.

It may well explain why one leg is twisting.

Happens to me too, always has, as said, the neoprene just makes it more pronounced due to the 'friction'.
Just got to untwist every so often.

Before you put your boot on, get a piece of ribbon about 1m long. Fold it double and poke your foot through the bight. Wrap both ends of the ribbon around your ankle and up your calf a bit the opposite way to the way your trousers twist. Use a safety pin to attach the ends of the ribbon to your trouser leg.

I've not tried this so stop if it cuts off your circulation! Muckboots are way too good to not wear them.

I think everyone has highlighted why its occuring. But for a solution? Obviously if you are wearing neoprene lined muckboots you don't want to be wearing thick wellington socks (they might twist too with the bulk).

How about taking an old pair of base layer trousers or cycling trousers- Aldi? (compression close fitting type-lycra?) and cutting off the calf section. Slip it over the trouser leg, should be breathable and keep everything compressed enough to stop it moving. Plus if it is lycra type material it should reduce friction! ;) worth a try- also dare2b leggings are cheap so you could invest in those to cut up?
