Modified Stihl Hatchet

I have a Stihl hatchet and wanted something shorter but my pockets are way to deep for me to buy a GB or a Hultafors so I decided to modify my Stihl Hatchet. I sanded all the orange paint off the head and all the paint and varnish off the handle, shortened the handle as far as I could, by 7cm, then refitted the head with a wooden wedge and the original circular metal wedge just like the original. I wanted to get a polished finish on the head but I have ran out of elbow grease for now.

It feels so much better balanced and more comfortable to use.

They are made by Bahco, formerly Sandvik. I have had mine over 30 years and it is a decent axe.

Same as the Argos axes too. I rate them. Great all round head shape that lends itself well to carving.

Can someone give me information on the steel please, higher end?, lower end? Somewhere in the middle ? Decent heat treat ? Thanks.
