We use the yurt a lot, but wanted something easier to pack, but still fairly big... So we'd bought some canvas and made a model of what we'd like it to turn out like..
we made some templates from old boxes,
I got to cut things out and Jane did the sewing...
Making the cap to go over the pole...
Finally got it done to the stage of putting it up outside, just fits on the grass,
The plastic edge and groundsheet are from costco, and are still to get edging and bungees fitted...
The pole is aluminium scaffolding with connectors, a bit wonky in this pic but very solid...
The cap is nearly done, shockcord to keep it in place but hopefully able to allow it to be lifted for ventilation like a real lavuu , and we're going to need to get another reel of cord for the guylines as i used most of it up on other projects...
Its been good fun to plan and build so far (jane doing all but a little bit of the sewing)
(The bit i sewed)
It'll need to get soaked to swell the stitching and weave up a bit... Looking forward to getting it up to comrie croft (we hope)next month
