Funny old place, Maryon Wilson Park. I discovered it about a year
ago while on a bus safari (380 bus) to see what was what in my
locality.

There's a small deer park (deer are gorgeous but a bit difficult to
see with the close-weave green fencing protecting them) and an
animal enclosure with pigs, chickens, goats, sheep and horses.
I spotted eight rose-ringed parakeets in the trees, squawking
away cheerfully.

On the other side it is a bit more woodlandy but probably a bit
small for much in the way of bushcraft. Quite a wild looking
place though judging from the number of fallen trees (I looked
for fungus but didn't spot anything). There's a nice little stream
and the place is satisfactorily covered with leaves so it looks
like 'proper' woodland.

It's a bit startling when you come across it for the first time as
it's just in the middle of a residential street. Further down is
Gilbert Pit (an SSSI because of its geology) which is mostly
used by idiots on motor bikes.

Has anyone else muddied their boots in this park / woodland?
