Hi

Neighbour has cut down 2 x 6' Leyland trees and dumped em

Questions:

1) Whats it like to carve with

2) Would I have to season the wood first and if so how long would I have to wait?

I can see a spoon in the fork of the trunk:rolleyes:

Very sticky ouzes sap which clogs your tools and is a sod to get of your hands

Yes ,with out the bark, leave it a couple of years.not worth it for the very softwood.

Dont go there.

I have not used this for carving but I would probably find some other wood to carve with, especialy for a spoon:)

My only advice on this is to make sure that the wood is cut in the winter when the sap is down - the difference is surprising - though I speak only of pruning the stuff not trying to use it!
