I bought a Frosts herring roe knife and ground the ball they have welded at the tip , I find it a very useful knife with a 2" blade that can be pushed hard ( the handle is set opposite the blade but works fine) .
I had a light day at work this week so I decided to try and make one so I lit the torch and used a Koyo bearing race and tried my hand at forging .
After heat treating , tempering in a toaster oven , a quick oak handle and lots of time on the bench stone it will pop the hair off your arm after carving a couple of small spoons .
I will have to try again because the Frosts works a bit better due to the thinner blade but I'm still happy wit the results .
