Still happy with my Silva for naviation but have been thinking of getting a gps for a backup and also for geocaching.
Can any one recomend one or shed light on what should i be looking for in one.

As a back up you can't beat the Etrex. Cheap(ish) waterproof with a reasonable battery life.

Just use mine to get the map reference as a "reassurance" when in doubt about my position.

If you logon to the GPS warehouse you should be able to pick a reconditioned one up for under £80 to meet your requirements a good choice is the Garmin 12
