I've been told to pick a knife as a gift for someone and for some reason I'm drawing a mental blank.

It's for general camping, wood prepping for the fire etc and the lucky recipient also dabbles in a bit of fishing.

Budget is no more than £50 which has turned out to be a tricky price point for me. A lot dearer than the cheap jobbies but not enough cash to reach real quality and good looks in a knife.

Any ideas?

I quite like the look of this for the price:
http://www.ronniesunshines.com/inde...ves/finnish-wilderness-drop-point-puukko.html

or a little bit more towards the £60 mark:

Or as someone mentioned - an enzo trapper kit. Excellent knife, and would dfeel so much more unique if they finnish it themselves.

Good luck

A possible candidate here? (Original price is now reduced and the money goes to one of our own ;) )

(EDIT: Item in other thread sold so link has been purposely removed)

How about one of these:
http://www.militarymart.co.uk//jaguar-stainless-steel-bushcraft-knife-set/prod_1749.html
I have one of these that i use regular on my outings, nice feel to it, holds an edge reasonably well ans qiute easy to sharpen.
Not that far from you Ormskirk and you can spend the other twenty quid on something else while your there.

I've seen those in my google search wanders - IMHO they look horribly manufactured. Even the words "reasonably" and "Quite well" add to the mediocre appeal - Im sure you can get far better for the price.

Many thanks for all your suggestions guys, I've got plenty to go on there.

I'll let you know what knife is chosen although at this time I feel I might be able to push the budget to a Helle Eggen as it seems to tick all the right boxes.

Cheers
Sean
