I'm thinking of getting a bivi bag and a tarp/basha to do away with tenting unless essential. For a tarp i was considering the british army basha (if i can find it not in dpm). So any suggestions of perhaps better value for the same price?

As far as a bivi bag goes its a new one for me but my budget would be a maximum of £45, anyone got some good suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sensible advice from Dougster. Why not get yourself on a meetup and try what others have first, may save you a fair bit of coin.

Not thought of a hammock? The dd one I have can be used as a bivi bag I the event of no trees available but to be honest once you've tried sleeping off the ground you won't want to go back down!
