Hello

My Uncle died recently and I found this knife in his garage while sorting stuff out.
Just wondered if anybody knew anything about it, as its quite unusual

Probably part of a cutlery set, Soligen Baron were made for the export market I believe from the 50's to around 1970...

Part of a cutlery set!! Who would want to eat with that foot?? Makes sense about the export market and the dates tho, he traveled alot for his job, from about the 50's to the 70's. Cheers for your reply

I wouldn't think that it formed part of a cutlery set - this site has a similar knife described as a German WWII boot knife - http://www.warhelmets.com/ and this a hunting knife - http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290659996988

I did suggest that it might be part of a cutlery set as although solingen was/is a well known knife maker the affix Baron was used mostly on export cutlery.........I'm not sure they could take any hard use, the tang & handle attachments don't look too solid........rare they be but don't appear to be valuable judging by the sold price of the first link..
