So I go down to the car today and its keyed from intake to rear lights on the nearside. Deep aswell, someone was going for it, they also got someones ol' bmw estate and possibley an 07 rangey sport, what the? Surely an 06 disco is not worthy of jelousy? It smells like dog inside and I dont even have one! I wasn't blocking anyone or anything, It was entirely uncalled for.

I can barely afford it as is, now because of some drunken little droog I'll have to pay outta pocket to get it fixed before it causes rust etc. I'm just dumb struck as to what makes people do this. No CCTV for miles around and I'm yet to speak to the other victims.

Knew I should of gotten a beat up 90 and I would never of noticed it:lmao:.

Is this common with Landrovers/4x4s?

I had someone key my Transit a while ago.

Total waste of time and effort for them considering how beat up it was before they started.
Some people are just a bit odd I guess.

Bad news chap
i don't imagine the idiots take much notice of what cars they are, it's just a game to them but the higher the price tag of the motor the bigger the reaction from the owner which I'm sure they get off on

I had my Disco keyed 10 years ago, I never treated it or had it sorted, I was quoted a couple of hundred by one of these repair van chappies.
The sides were aluminium.

Yup, had mine keyed years back when it was out on loan to someone. It was an old S1 Disco and it was pretty scratched by age and off roading anyway. Bad karma to the "eco-warriors" who did it in my book. Thing is it wasn't just a toy. I did use it off road properly. Small minds do stupid things.

After 12 pints of special brew there's no reasoning there anymore

Don't try to apply logic or common sense where none exists. I used to work in a CCTV control room and this sort of thing used to be commonplace in town centers where we were monitoring. Bins turned over, cars keyed, windows smashed, parking cones placed on lamp posts etc etc the list is endless. most of the time the people doing this are so paralytic they can barely stand. There's no direct anger being shown to you or your vehicle. It's just your vehicle happened to be on the way home for this ****** up little scroat who probably doesn't even remember doing it.

One of the most annoying things i saw was a beautiful Lamborghini parked in the town center. Two totally separate drivers got their passengers to get out of the car and direct them into the parking bay either side of this car so they were parked 2 inches from it's bumpers, there was no way this driver was getting out until they moved. Just because someone has a nice car they felt the need to make other peoples lives unnecessarily difficult.

The few years i worked in that control room destroyed my faith in human beings. We are nasty, vindictive, selfish and stupid creatures.

It's a sad sad world we live in

I agree its normally how much they have drunk and which mates they want to show off to which is the factor, rather than which car they do it to.
Sorry to hear about it, there are some sods in the world.

I don't think it has anything to do with jealousy. There seems to be a group of people who actively enjoy hurting others and I suspect they are the same ones that find it funny to be unpleasant to those of us who are fat, ginger, disabled or whatever, knowing that they are causing pain. Personally I would lock up anyone over the age of 20 who was caught doing anything of that kind on the rounds that they should have learned better by then.

Yeah, I'm not convinced its jealousy, or eco warriors.

Its just gimps with a bit too many alco pops in them.

I don't really understand vandalism, at least thieves gain something by doing what they do. Vandals risk something for nothing. Its totally pointless.

It's very very weird how different folks react depending on the car you drive.

Moved garage years ago the new garage was around a 40 mins drive away.
I had a Healey 3000 i'd just sold that was awaiting collection and i'd bought a 911 with some of the proceeds.

Driving the Healey i got smiles, thumbs and folks seemingly went out their way to let me out at junctions.

A couple of hours later i had 2 drivers give me the "jerk" motion and was at one junction for over 5 mins because not one single driver would let me out, to the point where they would actively block me.

It's far far worse in the UK than here in Greece.
When i drive my MX5 over there it's rare i'll have a drive where i don't get a hairdresser comment of some sort, 15 years or driving it here in Greece and i've only ever received nice comments.

To be honest anyone that judges someone else depending on the car they're driving at the time isn't really worth bothering about.

With regards to the scratching, might be worth looking onto a dash cam, many have a inbuilt G-sensor so there is a chance that if they applied enough pressure on the car you would have had a pic of them walking away.
Not ideal, but chances are they'll be known to athoritise.

Some a-hole once put a pellet hole through the windscreen of my Series 3 landrover. It was split screen and although the glass was cheap enough it was the fact that someone was stupid enough to do it.
Conclusion; humans are stupid.

If there was a Smart Car or a Fiat Panda on the same stretch of road that were untouched and the Disco and BMW keyed then that might point to someone with a grudge against larger cars.

I once had someone drive away after striking the side of my 110 after they had shot out of a side street without looking, perhaps they thought I could afford it and perhaps they had no insurance, I had tree bars though so they left the best part of their Escort? on the road behind them.

I had to buy a new wheel though, pricey and not worth damaging my no claims for. :(

People do it all the time judging people based on their kit and even the type of knife they choose to use.

No difference at all in judging someone for their choice of knife or choice of car.

Sorry to hear it mate. I wouldn't read too much into it though, as everyone above has said, drunken morons who don't know any better. If you'd had your headlights nicked that would be different (mine were taken last year and cost me £400 to replace).
if you aren't worried about looks, just get some top coat varnish to seal the scratch, all ali skin so no probe with rust.
