    St John's Wort

Which part of plant should be used medicinally? I know that the tablets sold contain the extracted hypericin, so I'm wondering how much of the plant would be consumed to get the same amount as 1 tablet of the pill (usually 300mg hypericin). Anyone know?

    Removing small snails, insects ect

There's a few plants that I gather a few KG of, and notice the odd small snail (about 2mm). I tried washing the foraged leaves in water for a while, but still find a few stuck to them. Is their a method to drive away these snails and other creepers from the batch of leaves?

    Mugwort - Artemisia Vulgaris

Last night I tried Mugwort for the first time. I picked it from a meadow and had some with my daily pasta. It gave me pretty interesting dreams! I'm wondering how common this plant is in the north west and where it's most commonly found? I've only seen one of them growing.

    Nettles: When to stop picking?

Different books give different ideas on when to stop picking and eating stinging nettles. I would like to fill a freezer but I think it might be too late now. Wild Food Quiz

I created this quiz a few months ago. It has 16 edible plant pictures that are shown a total of 4 times each (different pictures each time). I made this myself as a tool to learn, but I guess it might be useful for others too. I couldn't find a way to put the file on a web page without signing...

    Wild Cherry

I've never seen a Prunus Avium tree. This is the tree I'd be the most exited about for finding. Is it rare to find? Or should I be looking in specific places to find them? I just imagine the taste and how beautifully organic they would be. Any tips?

    Entomology: Eating Insects

Entomophagy should be in the title.. Sorry! Although I'm trying to become a genuine expert in foraging, I'm also going down a strange path of Entomophagy (eating insects). As a start of anything I research, it usually starts with internet research, moving on to books and practical experience...

    Wild Winter Foods

Foraging is my main passion at the moment, but I'm quite new to it (as in trying to become an expert). I'm wondering if anyone could link me or list all of the growing plants in winter that can be eaten? Summer is a feast of wild food, but winter plants is something I'd like more expertise...

    Net Traps

Hello people of nature. I find snaring for squirrels to be a bit too inhumane for me to do often. I'm looking for anyone with experience with setting net traps that can be left while you do other things. I'd really like to try this and would like to know how efficient it is. Thanks!

Hi guys, I need some advice from the knowledge you all have! Say if all of a sudden, all of the shops were empty of food, and all you had were your survival skills (primitive only). Where would you say is the biggest, most secluded, but most abundant natural area in England? Somewhere that...

When did you become interested in Bushcraft?

I turn 18 in July so that's when I can start some Bushcraft courses. I first got interested in Bushcraft when I was about 14. It was one of the Ray Mears programs that came on the BBC. I remember it being an episode where he was with an African tribe. I'm really interested to know how long...
