Looking into buying a Bergans Lavvo 4/6

I have a Bergans and really like it. I pack it in a sleeping bag sized dry bag so I can even backpack with it!

    Tent stove mod idea

Yes cake dish or roasting dish are sort of what I was thinking of. My seekoutside stove has threaded rod legs, which could probably be used to hold such a tray in place with wing-nuts or something similar. When I have the thing going at full pelt it glows red hot, so was thinking I could try and...

    Tent stove mod idea

I have a seek outside wood stove, similar to kifaru or ti-goat stove. I like the idea of a warming tray extension, but have been thinking about whether there would be any benefit to a tray beneath the stove? Specifically does anyone think that a deep baking tray fixed beneath the stove could...

    Woodstoves and campsites

I am planning on camping in the Austrian Alps in early June, and intend to take my Bergans Lavvo, with woodstove and chimney. Since I plan to mostly be on campsites, does anyone have any experience of whether tent stoves are permitted in general? Thanks!

Planning hiking trip in Austrian alps

Hi everyone, I am currently planning a serious multi-day hiking trip in the Austrian Alps, most likely in the Tirol. Has anyone got an experience of this? I have hiked there many times, but never a multi-day, so I am looking for tips on routes, essential kit etc. My initial thoughts draw me...

    Tent Ladder lock improv repair

The big problem with the Sea to Summit is the shipping cost, all the places online seem to be extortionate when you include postage. As for the the split bar locks, yes they look like a good idea, however the loop for the current ladder lock is very tight and I am dubious a split bar would fit...

    Tent Ladder lock improv repair

While camping in Sweden last October with my small Bergens Lavvu I noticed that one of the ladder locks on adjustable peg loops had broken. Essentially one side of it had snapped so it still functioned but was bending and i didn't want to risk putting too much strees on it. Obviously before...

    Leaky sleeping mat

I'm heading to see friends in North Germany before going to Sweden so think I will just pick up a closed cell there. Bremen has three 'Unterwegs' shops which have a pretty good selection of stuff so will probably do.

    Leaky sleeping mat

I'm out of the guarantee and don't have a receipt so can't do a return. Not sure what to do, but tempted just to go for a closed cell. I can't afford a new self-inflating and honest I am now more than a little dubious about them

    Leaky sleeping mat

like I say I have submerged the entire mat and couldn't find anything apart from lots of teeny tiny bubbles almost like the surface itself was porous. So while I was all eager and ready with the seam grip, I had no obvious hole to repair hence my waterproof spray idea

    Leaky sleeping mat

had it about two years, bought form cotswold outdoor. Doubt it has a warranty and don't have a receipt or any documentation. It's only had very light use in the alps and sweden and I have been very careful with it, however I have inflated it with my breath which I know some producers advise against.

    Leaky sleeping mat

In a couple of weeks I'm heading off for a weeks solo canoeing and wild camping in sweden (my fist such adventure) and while sorting out my kit I have noticed that my Mountain equipement Helium mat is deflating raidly. I submerged it in the bath to try and find a hole with no luck, all I did...

    Bushcrafty Music

was thinking earlier about music that puts me in an outdoorsy mood, or maybe music I sing to myself while out walking. So thought I'd see if others here have particular music that makes them think about a particular place or being outdoors. For me, since I'm a folk musician it's mostly folk...

    Washing in the wild

Couple of questions for you all. First off, has anyone got any tips for doing washing up in the wilderness? By which I specifically mean what do you take with you? Sponge? collapsable bowl? Also are there any detergents that are non poluting? (By which I mean anything ranging from natural...

    What did you buy today?

Shewie, It came to about £200 that was for a 7ft pipe and shipping to the UK, though I will have to pay duty when it arrives in the UK. All in all though I think it's better value than ti-goat or kifaru.

    Where to go in Sweden

I think I'm warming to the ideal of a week or two of walking and canoeing in Varmland. Any recommendations for specific areas? Also couple more questions. Can you wild camp in Swedish National Parks? and is it generally ok to hire a canoe alone?
