    First aid kit

I bought a couple of water proof clear plastic boxes with chords to hang round your neck.....I filled them with lots of medical supplies that I know would be needed in the field including butterfly sutures, they cost a £1.00 each from pound land and carry enough gear for the worst of medical...

Comp for the budding knife makers amongst us!

The knife in my signature is made from a file and it is very sharp, keeps and edge no matter what I throw at it....since, I have re-profiled the handles and oiled the wood....files make cracking knives and they last forever, cut nearly everything and make you feel confident about what you are doing.

    French Leather Lined Satchel

Bought one of these a few weeks ago from Mean and Green for £14.00 inc the postage...it came in as new condition but smelling of 50 years of storage...first thing to do was to dunk it in a bucket of water and soak it for a couple of days...then I packed it with news papers to regain the natural...

    Air Rifles

When shooting an un-silenced air rifle whilst in a hunting situation the resulting crack is enough to scare everything else around you away...because the effective hunting range of a sub 12flbs rifle is about 30 yards, stealth is a big part of an effective kill and making the least amount of...

    Air rifle power measurement

, The power of your Hornet is factory set at a little over 11flbs...your gun is regulated so shot to shot consistency should be less than 10fps...I would be very surprised if the gun was over the limit as it is fitted with anti tamper....and to reiterate a former muting shooting Tree Rats is a...

    Fuchsia Fruits

The fruit of the fuchsia is a very sweet and enjoyable little plum shaped delight and at this time of the year they are ready for eating...very often overlooked and discarded as they are like a small purple olive but the flesh is a treat (don't eat the pips) and you will find most gardens have...

    Rose Hip Glut.

I find collecting them when very ripe, splitting and cleaning out the insides, then eating them like grapes is a nice way to enjoy them and I agree there is a bit of a glut about along with lots of nice apples all going begging.

    A days Crayfishing (pics)

They taste better if you cut the spinal chord, break the middle section of the tail and remove the gut channel, give them a good clean, chop a couple of small shallots fine add a couple of garlic cloves and a slug of dry white wine and cook as you would normally...remove from the liqueur and...

Opening wine bottles in the field

I bought a french Joddler for opening my bottles....small t bar handle with two slim pieces of metal just less than a corks width apart...gently slide them down the side of the cork level with the handle and rock it back and forth and the cork just pops out....small enough to fit in your wallet.
